From Saturday, May 7th and until Saturday, May 13th, the facilities of Hacienda La Trinidad will be open for the audience to enjoy the first edition of the exhibition “Soy, a special art auction by Asodeco”, a non-profit organization focused on qualifying people with special needs to promote their integration to the working industry.
As well as its key partner, Fundasitio, managed by Rafael Núñez Aponte, Asodeco worked hand to hand with Despacho Museográfico Meraz Aguilar, a creative solutions platform that works on the entrepreneurship of new initiatives of the culture management. Everybody wishes these artistic expressions would become a form of professional exercise for those with mental limitations.
Despacho Museográfico Meraz Aguilar took care of the whole production, achieving big and important alliances with Fundasitio and its CEO Rafael Núñez, alongside other organizations, as well as with the plastic artist Rafael Bethencourt, to organize workshops in which the participants had their first contact with art, to later receive a basic capacitation to start painting for themselves.
“Working with them was amazing”, said Rose Marie Aguilar, one of Despacho’s directors.
These people have always been immersed in workshops, but very little times they’ve been in contact with their artistic side. Thus, the amazing results and the surprises from both sides of the coin.
The participants, once they saw their finished pieces, got surprised. According to Meraz, they ended up asking themselves:
“Is that really me? I didn’t know I could do that!”
Through this activity, the producers of the event, as well as all attendees, realized how talented these young guys are, and started looking for a way to encourage them to build a better self-esteem, and confidence to carry on creating art pieces that could be profitable in the future.
Rose Marie Aguilar added:
“It is important for them to understand that there are different projects and ways to make a living. Art could also be a way of becoming an entrepreneur.
